Morecambe delivered a well under par display to fall to a 3-0 defeat to Boston United to remain in the National League relegation zone.
The Shrimps made two changes for the game, with Mo Sangare and Lewis Payne coming in for Harry Panayiotou and the injured Yann Songo’o
Morecambe started as the better side in the opening ten minutes, with efforts from Jake Cain and Emerson Sutton going close, but the visitors quickly grew into the game, and opened the scoring in the 24th minute.
A ball was played in behind the Morecambe defence, and Matty Carson swung in a left wing cross that was guided into the far corner from six yards by Lenel John-Lewis
Boston United doubled their lead through Dylan Hill in the 35th minute. John-Lewis played him in through the middle, and after riding a couple of challenges on the edge of the box his effort found the bottom corner as Jamal Blackman came out to narrow the angle.
A third came towards the end of the half through a deflected effort, as a beleaguered Shrimps back line couldn’t clear the ball, with John-Lewis grabbing his second of the game with the help of a deflection off Ludi Francilette.
Morecambe came out in the second half looking for a response but simply couldn’t muster enough of an attacking threat, with a Miguel Azeez effort from 30 yards out straight into Rhys Lovett's arms and a Paul Lewis drive that went wide from 25 yards the closest they could get.
At the other end, Blackman had to be alert to repel an effort from Frankie Maguire, while a late Jack Nolan effort from distance was also saved by the visiting stopper, as a lacklustre performance ended with a defeat for the Shrimps, their 14th of the season in league and cup.
