Toploader have been announced as the headline act for this year's Morecambe Music Festival.

The band, best known for their global hit ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’, will perform a free gig at the Platform on Friday July 11 as part of the town's annual four-day summer music extravaganza.

Toploader are also known for a string of other hits including ‘Achilles Heel’, ‘Just Hold On’, and ‘Time of My Life’, and have amassed more than a billion music streams across all platforms in their career so far.

With a reputation as a genuine crowd-pleasing live band, Toploader have backed the likes of Paul Weller, Robbie Williams, Noel Gallagher, Tom Jones, Simple Minds and Bon Jovi, where they became the last British band to play the original Wembley Stadium.

They have also appeared at a host of festivals including Glastonbury, V-Festival and T in the Park, as well as Lancaster Christmas Lights Switch On and Morecambe Carnival.

Stuart Michaels, festival founder, said: "We’ve worked closely with The Platform over the past four months and with their help and ambition, have secured the biggest band to ever perform at the festival.

"We’ve spent seven years working hard to build the brand of Morecambe Music Festival and now we feel it’s the right time to go up a gear in what we are offering our thousands of festival goers."

The popular annual live music event will run from Thursday July 10 to Sunday July 13.

The festival was founded in 2017 by Morecambe singer and promoter Stuart Michaels, and regularly pulls thousands of people to bars around the town to watch an array of singers, duos and bands.

There will be 34 venues at this year's event. See below.

Once again, this year Beyond Radio will be the media partner for Morecambe Music Festival.
