The Mayor of Lancaster is inviting primary school children from across the district to get creative and design his official Christmas card.
Councillor Colin Hartley JP is looking for a colourful and festive design that captures the spirit of Christmas. The winning entry will become the Mayor’s official card and will be sent to a number of important recipients on behalf of Lancaster City Council, including His Majesty the King.
Councillor Hartley said: “One of the joys of being Mayor is celebrating the many talents of people across our district and this competition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the creativity of our young people.
‘’I’m sure choosing a winner will be no easy task, but I’m very much looking forward to seeing all of the entries.”
Children wishing to enter should make sure their design:
• Is created on a piece of A4 paper of any colour
• Uses strong, bright colours
• Does not include glitter
• Does not have anything stuck onto it, as these elements do not reproduce well
• Has the child’s name, age, address and telephone number clearly written on the back
Entries should be sent to: Mayor’s Office, Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ.
The closing date for entries is Wednesday November 18.
The winning young artist will be invited to Lancaster Town Hall to meet the Mayor, accompanied by up to nine friends and family members, and be presented with a framed copy of their winning design.
