A popular play area in Morecambe has been transformed after a £33,300 revamp.
Lancaster City Council’s playground team cleaned, repaired and repainted the tired equipment at Regent Park, and removed the old safety surface for a specialist contractor to lay brand-new wet-pour surfacing.
The £27,500 cost to resurface the play area was funded through a combination of council investment, a £400 contribution from the Friends group and a successful £18,723 grant from Lancashire Environmental Fund.
The council also added a new spinner to replace a faulty roundabout, at a cost of around £5,000.
A spokesperson for Lancaster City Council said: ‘’It is important to us that children have space to be active, build confidence, make friends and enjoy the outdoors and thanks to this joint investment, local youngsters can now enjoy a refreshed play space.’’
