The exact route the Tour de France will take when it races through the Lancaster and Morecambe district next year has been unveiled.
Lancashire is hosting an 80-mile stretch of the ‘Grand Départ’ event which is taking place across the UK.
The peloton’s passage through our area on day 2 of the globally-renowned sporting spectacle is on Saturday, July 3.
The cyclists will arrive in the county from the Lake District en route to Liverpool. It had already been revealed that the riders would be passing through places including Carnforth, Morecambe, Lancaster, the Forest of Bowland, Clitheroe, Langho, Whalley, Blackburn, Chorley and Parbold.
Lancashire County Council leader Stephen Atkinson, who attended the launch show, said: “It’s fantastic to see the route officially unveiled and to be here flying the flag for Lancashire ahead of our major role in next year’s Grand Départ.
“The Tour de France is one of the world’s biggest sporting events and is expected to bring more than £15m into Lancashire’s economy, as well as giving us a huge opportunity to showcase the county to the world.
“It’s also a great chance to make connections, learn from other host authorities and build the relationships we’ll need as detailed planning gets under way.”
Paul Bush, managing director of Grand Départ GB 2027, added: “To have both the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift starting in Britain next summer is extraordinary – and a historic moment. These routes showcase what a spectacular stage Scotland, England and Wales will provide.”
