Two Lancaster quizzers were delighted to take down one of TV's biggest superbrains in a general knowledge showdown at a Morecambe bingo hall.
Kriss Foster and Catherine Easton, who play in a quiz team in Lancaster, defeated Mark 'The Beast' Labbett in a trivia battle when the star of popular quiz show The Chase visited Buzz Bingo on Friday.
The 6ft 6in Labbett is known as television's most fearsome quizzer, having made his name as star of The Chase and spin-off shows Beat the Chasers and The Chase Around the World.
But Kriss and Catherine - who play at the Stonewell Tap on Wednesday nights - kept their cool to edge The Beast in a nail-biting finale to an exciting evening.
With the scores locked at 9-9, Catherine beat The Beast to the buzzer with the final question, correctly saying that the actor who had an alien burst from his chest in a famous movie scene was John Hurt.
The moment Kriss and Catherine beat The Beast!
The duo celebrated winning a prize of £250 to split between them, after earlier reaching the final against Labbett by winning a quiz with 150 participants.
Labbett is on a tour around the UK and had previously been undefeated in 26 locations, so Kriss and Catherine were delighted to be the first to beat him!

Catherine, who works at Lancaster University, said: "It was such fun and to win was not something we expected.
"I think The Beast was surprised too but he was very magnanimous.
"As some of the questions started going our way we realised we might have a chance but he was always one or two ahead. We realised we had to be quick on the buzzer and some of the knowledge, I don't know where it came from!"
Kriss, who works as centre manager for Lancaster youth charity Escape2Make and who also runs a Sunday quiz at city pub the Merchants, said: "It was ace, it went down to the wire!
"Earlier I'd gone to shake his hand and wished him luck. He was like a pantomime baddie, and said 'this guy is wishing ME luck, can you believe it?'
"But he was a nice guy, and a very fast player!"
The 'Beat the Beast' night held at the bingo centre on Marine Road also gave fans the chance to meet and have their photo taken with the TV personality.
A Facebook post by Buzz Bingo Morecambe said: "Just a quick note to thank you to this great team for all their hard work tonight! Busy night all round and did the club proud!

"A fantastic night had by all.
"And well done to our winning customers...Beast was 26 and 0 coming to Morecambe tonight but he was finally beaten."
