Disappointing day on the road leads to FA Cup exit for Lancaster City

Lancaster City were knocked out of the FA Cup at the second qualifying round stage.

It would be a trip to forget to Bradford Park Avenue as despite early pressure, the Dollies were eliminated by one goal to nil.

The first big chance fell to Joe Amison, after a mix up inside the box between defence and attack gave Caine a chance to lob the keeper but his effort was just wide. A flurry of corners, and a shout for handball on Marcus Carver, with the referee not interested in the appeals.

On 19 minutes the visitors were made to pay for not capitalising on being on top. Luke Parkin driving forward from midfield and he calmly slammed his shot home in the bottom corner to switch momentum and ultimately win the tie.

The hosts would push for a second, Parkin trying an overhead kick, which was blocked and Misambo almost getting on the end of a corner.

Lancaster tried to get back into the game, and Dylan Moonan found space in the box but his shot was blocked on 28 minutes, with the following corner needing punching off the line.

Dolly debutant Ben Jackson was put through on goal on 44 minutes, but he was seemingly brought down which impeded the shot, but the referee waved play on. The Avenue would rattle the woodwork for the first time of the game on just before half time.

The second half started off lively, with Carver sniffing around again on 54 minutes. Shot blocked by Brad Moonan. the back and forth continued as Amison broke down the right but his cross was cleared before Yawson could get on the end of it and in what resembled a basketball game Bradford went to the other end and Carver hits the bar with an audacious lob over Kelly.

The clear cut chances were few an far between, the better chances fell to new signing Harry Evers who was introduced as a substitute, but it wouldn't be enough as Bradford held out.

Next up is a trip to the East Coast to take on Cleethorpes Town in the FA Trophy.
