Lancaster City progress in FA Cup

Lancaster City earned a place in the Second Round Qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup after a victory over Tadcaster.

First half goals from Jim Craig and Steven Yawson were enough to get the win and to play Bradford (Park Avenue) next Saturday in West Yorkshire.

It was a bright start from the Dollies, Sam Bailey's cross into the box gave Joe Amsion a chance to shoot on two minutes, which was blocked. Lancaster did not have to wait long to take the lead.

Charlie Bailey's shot was only half cleared to brother Sam, who crossed the ball back into the danger zone, which landed at the feet of Lawson and his effort was saved by Stead, Jim Craig was there to turn the rebound in.

Lawson went close again on 14 minutes, Steven Yawson driving down the right hand side drawing keeper Harry Stead out of his goal, with Yawson finding Lawson in space, but his shot was blocked off the line in act of fine last gasp defending.

Nathan Caine's turn to drive down the right, his cross is initially blocked but the loose ball lands at his feet, laying it off for Charlie Bailey forcing a low save from Stead from about 25 yards out.

The Dollies were two to the good on 32 minutes. A Sam Bailey throw in evaded everyone and Steven Yawson was on hand to sweep the ball home.

The second started the Lancaster on Top - Charlie Bailey this time from the left hand side forcing a save and Yawson firing just over the bar on 49 minutes.

Chances and pressure were traded between the sides, but Brad Kelly wasn't troubled too much throughout the game. The Dolly Blue back line standing firm and not wanting a repeat of Saturday just gone.

There was time at the end of the game to give debuts to new signing Joleon Moore, who looked lively in his cameo and to Sam Kelly, the second graduate from the Under 23 side.
