Lancaster City secure back to back away wins after Guiseley victory

Two second half goals under the Friday night lights gave Lancaster City all three points on the road at Guiseley in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Following on from the victory over Bury at Gigg Lane, Jimmy Marshall made two changes, and in came James Bailey and James Nolan, with Nathan Caine and Dom Lawson back on the bench.

Guiseley skipper Lebrun Mbeka started the chances, his header flashing wide after four minutes and Jordan Thewlis trying his luck from 25 yards on eleven minutes, his shot wide of Brad Kelly's goal.

The first real chance in anger for Lancaster came a few minutes later, Jim Craig sending Steven Yawson down the right hand side, his cross headed towards goal by James Nolan which went over the bar.

The two chances on target in the first half both came from Sam Bailey, the first a devilish ball into box which almost beat everyone, Jack Hall in the Guiseley goal a relived man to see it bounce off the post and into his arms, and again on the half hour mark when Sam Bailey's free kick went over the wall but again the Lions' keeper gathered.

A James Nolan shot over the bar on 34 minutes was the catalyst for a Guiseley revival and 41 minutes they were ahead.

After his initial throw to the box was cleared, Adam Lund crossed the ball back into the box and after a few attempts to clear the ball from the congested penalty area, Lebrun Mbeka put the Lions ahead.

It was almost 2-0 before half time, as Alfie Cunningham was dispossessed 30 yards out by Cam Wilson his initial shot was parried by Kelly and the 2 follow up attempts from Jordan Thewlis blocked by Kelly too.

The second half the Dollies started on top, with Sam Bailey forcing Hall into an early save off a Sanogo cross, and the Guiseley shot stopper was called into action two minutes later as he had to tip James Nolan's edge of the box effort over the bar.

A small bit of pressure from Guiseley saw Aaron Martin on the turn fire a shot down low, which Brad Kelly turned round the post and from the corner a ball down the right was turned into the net by Jordan Thewlis, however he was flagged for offside.

The substitutions added a much needed boost to the side and Dom Lawson started the crusade for points with a low volley which cannoned off the post. Then on 74 minutes the breakthrough came.

A Charlie Bailey throw down the left was headed in field by Lawson and Steven Yawson did the rest, lifting the ball over Elliot Owen, and capitalising on a poor touch by Kyle White, rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home into an empty net.

Then, a Sam Bailey throw on 85 minutes was only half cleared, landing at the feet of Steven Yawson and Brad Moonan held off his defender to calmly dink the ball over Jack Hall for his first goal of the Season.

Next up for Jimmy Marshall's men is a home game against Workington.
