MATCH REPORT: Lancaster City 2 Quorn 2

Lancaster City came within inches of winning an action packed encounter with Quorn, which saw the visitors finish the game with 10 players.

Jimmy Marshall's side had to come from behind twice, with both James Nolan and Dom Lawson both coming ever so close to winning the game in stoppage time.

There was three changes to the side from midweek, with Joe Amison, Jim Craig and James Bailey coming into the XI.

The game began like a house on fire, with Madou Cisse volleying against the Lancaster bar from 25 yards after a minute.

The Dollies responded with a volley of their own moments later, with a fierce effort by Jim Craig being tipped just wide by the Quorn goalkeeper.

Quorn broke the deadlock on seven minutes, with Jesse Friend lashing the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box, leaving Brad Kelly helpless.

The Dolly Blues responded by putting the ball in the back of the net, unfortunately it was disallowed for offside, with Brad Moonan going too early from a free kick.

Nic Evangelinos came close to grabbing the equaliser, but his near post header flicked just wide of the far corner.

Jimmy Marshall was then forced into two changes before the break, with Matty Tweedley and Evangelinos having to depart, they were replaced by Nathan Caine and Dom Lawson.

Just seconds before the break, came Dolly delight, as Dylan Moonan levelled the scoring.

With a Sam Bailey free kick being spilled by the Quorn 'keeper, D.Moonan was there to mop up the rebound and equalise.

Unfortunately for Lancaster, for all their hard work, the away side retook the advantage.

Capitalising on a slip up at the back, Jaiden Campbell-Ryce smashed the ball past Kelly on the hour mark.

Substitute Steven Yawson led the charge for the leveller ten minutes later, driving forward and into the Quorn box, sitting down a defender in the process.

Unfortunately, his goalbound effort was blocked and then cleared by Quorn captain Mason Frizelle.

However, the Dollies would get their second equaliser just over a minute later.

Nathan Caine picked out Sam Bailey who immediately drove inside and spotted the run of Lawson who tapped it home to equalise.

Not even a minute later and the visitors found themselves down to 10 players.

With Lawson knocking the ball past him, Quorn's Elias Reaney pulled the attacker back, resulting in the defender being shown a second yellow card.

Once again, Lancaster then threw everything at the visitors.

As the game was about to enter stoppage time, Nolan met an inswinging cross and nodded a glancing header just inches wide of the far post.

In the sixth minute of stoppage time, S.Bailey bent another dangerous cross into Lawson, whose acrobatic volley was tipped wide by Jake Laban at full stretch, with the full time whistle sounding soon after.

City's next match is away at Bury on Tuesday August 25.
