There’s a temporary new name for Morecambe Football Club’s stadium.
The club’s stadium naming rights partnership with Mazuma Mobile has come to an end following the conclusion of the existing five-year arrangement.
As a result, the stadium will now temporarily be known as ‘The Bay Stadium’ while the club finalises contractual terms with its new sponsor, which was agreed earlier this week.
Head of Commercial, Martin Thomas said: “On behalf of everyone at Morecambe Football Club, I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Mazuma for their fantastic support over the past few years.
“Their partnership has played a significant role in the club’s journey, and we are incredibly grateful for the commitment, professionalism and loyalty they have shown throughout our relationship.
“While this chapter comes to an end, we do so with nothing but appreciation for everything Mazuma has contributed to the football club, and we wish them continued success in the future.”
Managing Director at Mazuma Mobile, Craig Smith added: “It has been a privilege to support Morecambe FC as stadium sponsor over the past five years.”
“What began as a three-year commitment evolved into five fantastic years of supporting the club.
‘’As someone who grew up supporting my hometown club, having the opportunity to see Mazuma's name associated with Morecambe FC has been particularly special on a personal level.
“Throughout our partnership, we have witnessed some unforgettable moments both on and off the pitch, and it has been an honour to play a part in the club's journey.
“As our sponsorship comes to an end, I would like to thank everyone at Morecambe FC, the supporters, staff, players and volunteers, for their passion, dedication and support over the years.
“On behalf of everyone at Mazuma, I wish the club every success for the future and look forward to following the Shrimps' progress for many years to come."
A further announcement of the new stadium naming rights partnership will be made over the next few days.
The stadium was originally called the Globe Arena when the complex first opened in August 2010, after the construction company that built the stadium following the move from Christie Park.
