Morecambe are five points from safety after a 2-0 defeat against Solihull Moors - their 17th of the campaign - left the Shrimps firmly inside the National League relegation zone.
The Shrimps made two changes to the starting line up to the side that lost to FC Halifax Town in midweek, with Leicester City loanee Chris Popov handed his full debut in attack, while in midfield Ben Tollitt was preferred to George Thomas, and Yann Songo’o returned to the squad on the bench after injury.

It was the visitors who had several chances in the opening stages of the game, including in just the third minute when Jacob Wakeling’s fierce volley was pushed away at full stretch by Jamal Blackman, who also tipped away two goalbound headers, all in the first ten minutes.
Moors took the lead in the 18th minute, as former Morecambe defender Alex Whitmore dissected the Shrimps’ back line with a long pass, and Connor Wilkinson beat the offside trap to finish low past Blackman.
Jack Nolan had Morecambe’s only real chance of the first half, as he saw a drive form 25 yards fly wide of target.
In the second half, Wilkinson smashed one against the post denying the visitors their second, before substitute Joe Nuttall had a golden chance to equalise, but smashed an effort from ten yards over the bar.
Solihull Moors doubled their lead in the 76th minute through Darius Lipsiuc, who found the target with a low drive from just inside the penalty area after Morecambe had given possession away in midfield.
