Point on the road for Lancaster City in Northern Premier League

Lancaster City came away from Guiesley with a point after a goalless draw in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

It was a match which didn't have that many chances for the Dolly Blues, the conditions suiting the defenders more and the only shot on target for Jimmy Marshall's side was on nine minutes.

A Sam Bailey corner straight from the training ground was driven low into the path of Charlie Bailey and from just inside the penalty area forcing Joe Cracknell into pushing it away.

The next chance came on 25 minutes, Sam Bailey trying his luck with a shot on the outside of the boot, after receiving the ball from Lewis Mansell and driving into the box. Simon Grand had a headed effort go wide, under pressure from a Guiseley centre back on 33 minutes. But as the game went on the pressure from the hosts intensified.

Just after Lewis Mansell's headed effort landed at the feet of Cracknell on 39 minutes, Lewis Gould flicked on the long ball to John Lufudu and his effort was thwarted by an on rushing Kelly.

The second started with the hosts on the front foot. Lewis Gould's header on 46 minutes landed on top of the goal net. Brad Kelly was once again called into action, this time saving at the feet of Harrison Hopper, Lewis Gould once again the creator.

A minute later the Dolly’s shot stopper was called upon again. A Jack Emmett ball into the box was only half cleared and Jake Lawlor's low volley was palmed away.

Jake Lawlor, this time with his head - tried to poke home a Harrison Hopper free kick it looked like it was going to sneak into the bottom corner but again Kelly got down to save.

Guiseley's best chance came with 5 minutes left on the clock. The ball from Jack Emmett was perfect for substitute Amir Berchil but once again the imperious Kelly came out to prevent the hosts from taking the lead.

A game where both defences on top form, and just like the reverse fixture back in September both sides had prolonged periods on top and a draw a fair reflection on the game.

Next up it's the first of two home games in a week as Rushall Olympic come to the Giant Axe on Tuesday 10th February, with a 7:45pm kick off.
