Morecambe slipped deeper into relegation trouble in the National League after an under par Shrimps lost 2-1 to Truro City at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.
Two first-half goals from the Tinners were enough to take all three points back to Cornwall, despite a Chris Popov goal in the second half.
It wasn’t a happy homecoming for returning manager Jim Bentley, in his first home game since taking charge of the Shrimps last week, with the result leaving Morecambe six points from safety with 16 games of the season remaining.

A lacklustre first half saw the Shrimps fashion no efforts on target, with just a Jack Nolan free kick curling wide of the mark the best they could offer in the final third.
Truro struck first in the 34th minute. The Shrimps attempted to counter attack after initially defending a corner, but Miguel Azeez was dispossessed, and Luke Jephcott advanced into the area and squared for Shaun Donnellan to slid the ball home at the near post.
The Tinners scored again in added time. A right wing corner into the six yard area was missed by several Morecambe defenders, allowing Tyler Harvey an easy finish at the back post.
Morecambe rallied in the second half and halved the arrears five minutes after the restart, as a Gwion Edwards’ effort from distance found the back of the net via a deflection off Chris Popov, to give the Leicester loan striker his first goal for the club.

The Shrimps fashioned a golden opportunity to equalise in the closing stages, as a good move saw Nolan in space inside the area, but his ball across the face of the six yard box couldn’t be tapped in by substitute Joe Nuttall.
At the other end, Harvey had a good chance to put the game to bed as he was played through, but Jamal Blackman stood strong to block his effort.
