Art auction will raise money for Kirkby Lonsdale recovery appeal

An art auction as part of the Kirkby Lonsdale Fire Disaster Recover Appeal takes place later this week.

A fantastic selection of works are on offer, with all proceeds going to support those affected by the devastating fire in the town centre in December.

The auction will be held in Exhibition Hall 2, at the J36 Rural Auction Centre at Crooklands, Milnthorpe, on Friday (April 25), at 7pm.

Viewings of the lots on offer are available all week between 10:30am - 4pm, and then on Friday between 10:30am - 7pm.

The auction, featuring more than 100 pieces of art, will feature some incredible artists from the area who are exhibiting and auctioning their work, including Fiona Clucas, Peter Threlfall, Briony Farr and Jan Morley.

The event has been put together by the Bentham and District 41 Club, along with a number of local art groups, to support the town following the fire on December 8 in the old Market Hall, impacting Market Street and ancient heart of the beautiful town.

One resident lost their life, and a number of local residents were made homeless. A significant number of businesses were also seriously affected.

To date, the appeal has raised more than £92,000 of a £150,000 target.
