Kendal man charged following swift action through Shop Watch scheme

A man has been charged following an incident at a premises on Stricklandgate, Kendal earlier this week.

Various businesses and organisations in Kendal are signed up to be part of the Shop Watch scheme - a network of local businesses that come together to tackle the risks associated with business crime.

These outlets are all linked through a radio system which is monitored by the South Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Within minutes of a suspicious incident being reported on Tuesday (February 6), officers were on scene and swiftly arrested a man.

During a follow up search of his home address, further suspected stolen items were located and seized.

Ervin Zouka, 50, of High Cragg Close, Kendal has been charged with attempted theft and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He is due to appear before South Cumbria Magistrates Court in relation to the offences.
