Free Lancaster Art Fair set to return

A community art wall will be part of the returning Lancaster Art Fair

An annual art fair will return to Lancaster next month

Lancaster Art Fair is a free cultural event for all ages and abilities.

The art fair provides creative activities and workshops to the public bringing communities together in a celebration of art and promoting mental well-being through creativity.

This year the Art Fair will take to the streets of Lancaster by providing free city centre art workshops, pop up stalls and makers markets showcasing more of the city's artistic talent than ever before.

The fair supports artists by providing paid work opportunities and a platform for them to show and sell their work, and also provides free artist professional development talks.

"We hope through the event we can celebrate the arts in the area, encourage people to see beauty and foster connection with others, improving wellbeing by providing high quality free cultural activities that are available to all," said the Lancaster Art Fair team.

"The fair provides vibrant creative spaces for people to enjoy with family and friends.

"We hope to have a lasting impact on local residents, introducing them to activities they may not have tried before and showing where they can continue learning and contributing to the arts in Lancaster."

The fair will include an exhibition at the Storey Gallery from August 19 to 23.

This will include free creative workshops, activities and a community art wall.

There will also be satellite exhibitions at Assembly Arts, The Quarterhouse and Pizza Margherita.

Professional development talks for artists will be held at Pizza Margherita and Assembly Arts.

A two-day city centre event will take place on Friday August 22 and Saturday August 23.

This will includes a local arts organisations showcase in Market Square, a Makers Market in St Nicholas Arcades and free creative workshops in Lancaster Library.

A Makers Market will also be held on Sunday August 24 at the Gregson Centre.
