Mike Berners-Lee and Lancaster Arts bring People’s Emergency Briefing to Lancaster

Mike Berners-Lee, the Chair of the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster and a Professor at Lancaster University, will co-host, a screening of the ‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ film with Lancaster Arts.

The screening, to be held in the Great Hall at Lancaster University tomorrow, Tuesday April 14, 7pm to 9pm, includes briefings from experts across health, food security, national security, infrastructure and the economy.

With appearances from well-known faces including Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden and Jennifer Saunders, the film now shows people’s reactions to the briefings and some of the solutions available to tackle climate and nature breakdown.

The 45-minute film will be followed by a facilitated community discussion, to let everyone share their feelings and their ideas on how to take action locally.

Professor Berners-Lee said: “I’m so excited to bring Lancaster University, the city and local community groups together for this screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing.

‘’We can start to explore what this means for each of us and how we can each ensure that our life and work are in tune with the times in which we live.”

 “It will be fascinating to learn what this means for everyone in the community. Everyone is welcome, as are all honestly held reactions and views.”

Director of Lancaster Arts Jocelyn Cunningham, who will facilitate the conversation alongside Professor Berners-Lee, said: “We are delighted to be co-hosting this screening of such an important film. Chris Packham, who presents the film, said: “I’d encourage people everywhere to attend a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing.
