Lancaster’s annual Potato Day returns to the city in 2026.
The event, which takes place at The Friends Meeting House on Saturday January 31, will offer 25 different varieties of organic seed potato and five organic onion sets for sale.
There will also be a seed swap, heritage fruit trees, jams and preserves, a cafe and a variety of food stalls, between 10am and 3pm at the venue in Meeting House Lane, next to Lancaster Railway Station.
Lancaster Seed Library will be bringing a range of seeds to share and swap whilst also answering seed-saving questions.
Mark Simmonds from Co-op Culture will also be joining the day to offer drop-in session advice to allotment sites on governance.
“The day runs every year on a ‘not-for-profit’ basis and is currently coordinated by the Claver Hill community food project with support from North Lancashire’s FoodFutures partnership," said Anna Clayton, coordinator of FoodFutures, which is helping to organise the event.
“The aim of the event is simple: to bring people together and get more food grown and shared locally.”
