Josh Brandwood reviews this year’s Christmas panto at The Grand.
The much-anticipated production of Snow White, brought to life by Lancaster Footlights, has opened at the iconic Lancaster Grand Theatre, kicking off this year’s festive programme in spectacular style.
Directed and choreographed by Cheryl Hutton, this year’s Snow White panto was an absolute delight from start to finish.

The cast were bursting with energy, and the principal actors gave fantastic performances, from a charming Snow White and Prince Ferdinand to the wonderfully wicked Queen Avarice (cue the boos!).
And of course, no panto would be complete without a brilliant dame. Dame Edna Bucket, along with her jester sidekick Chuckles, had the whole audience in stitches all evening thanks to spot-on comic timing and effortless banter.
The show had everything you’d hope for: plenty of laughs, colourful costumes, catchy numbers, and heaps of audience participation.

The musical numbers were a great mix of modern favourites and nostalgic classics, and judging by the singing and dancing in the seats, the audience loved every minute.
My two (aged 3 and 7) were completely swept up in it. My eldest, who’s only been to the theatre once before, came out beaming and telling me how much he loved it, especially the magical scene changes.
Overall, this production of Snow White is a sparkling, family-friendly triumph that’s guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit.

When I asked my kids what they’d rate it, they didn’t hesitate, a confident 10/10, and I’m right there with them!
The show runs until December 28th, so grab your tickets while you still can and treat the family to a wonderful night out!
