Waterside Weekly
Waterside Weekly is the only local radio program dedicated to capturing the voices, stories, and rhythms of life along the Lancaster Canal. Through conversation, music, personal journeys, and shared interests, the show seeks to connect and celebrate everyone who uses the Lancaster Canal - from liveaboard boaters and leisure users to anglers, cyclists, walkers, and the communities who live along the towpath.
John Hewson is a liveaboard boater and has lived on the Lancaster Canal Community for over five years. Each week he'll introduce new guests and interviews such as our regular Voices on the Water and Towpath Tales segments, which introduce you to the lives of those that live on the water. We've also got regular Boaters Bulletins, news and interviews about everything happening along the canal, regular spots on water and boat safety and the occasional unexpected surprise guest!
If you're not a boater, there's still plenty for you learn about. The show's mission is to bridge divides, promote canal culture, educate and inspire a shared sense of ownership and belonging of our beautiful Lancaster Canal. Join John for an hour of life at 3 miles per hour every Saturday at 5pm.
