The CEO of a leading cancer charity has taken on the role of President of Lancaster and Morecambe Chamber of Commerce.
Alastair Richards will take over from Chris Gardner as president of the group which represents and supports businesses in North Lancashire.
Dan Barry, of Heysham supply chain and logistics firm North Star Projects, is the new vice president.
Mr Richards is Chief Executive Officer of North West Cancer Research, which funds pioneering research and education to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer.
“I'm delighted to have been elected as the President of Lancaster & Morecambe Chamber of Commerce for the next two years, taking over from Christopher Gardner who has been an inspirational leader," said Mr Richards.
"I'm looking forward to working alongside (chief executive) Graham White and all of the chamber team growing the voice of the business community in our area."

Outgoing president Chris Gardner, of Waters & Atkinson solicitors, said: “I want to publicly thank the chamber team as well as my fellow directors for everything they have done during my presidency.
"Their hard work has moved the chamber forward and I’ve really enjoyed working with them all. I’m also thankful to the hundreds of local businesses who have supported the chamber by paying their subscription and attending our events.
"As I hand over to our new president Alastair Richards, I want to wish him good luck and hope he enjoys the two years as much as I have mine.”

"Having been involved as a member, then NED (non-executive director) for a number of years including behind the scenes work to help in the transition period to our new CEO Graham White, this is an exciting time for our region, and I’m committed to supporting local businesses, championing innovation - as a personal passion as a business owner, and helping to create opportunities for sustainable growth.
"Together with the chamber team and our vibrant business community, I look forward to building on the strong foundations set by our predecessors - Chris and Tarnia (Elsworth), the fantastic operations team already in place, and helping connect more independents and businesses.”
