A family-run cake shop in Torrisholme is celebrating after being crowned Best Bakery of the Year at the UK Small Business Awards.
Carter's Cakes took first place in the awards celebrating small business owners and entrepreneurs across the nation.
The shop on Lancaster Road in Torrisholme took first place in the Best Bakery category at an awards ceremony held in Birmingham earlier this month.
Owner Alana Carter-Greef posted on the Carter's Cakes Instagram @cakescarters to say:
"Absolutely over the moon to have brought back national winning bakery UK of 2025 at the @smallbusinessawardsuk last night.
"Such a proud and emotional moment, well done to all the finalists in every category, so lovely seeing so many hardworking individuals in one room."
Alana (below) began the business from her home bakery in Overton and then opened a shop in Meeting House Lane, Lancaster, working alongside her mum Theresa Riley.

When they outgrew the Lancaster bakery, the family took on the current premises at 353 Lancaster Road over two years ago.
Carter's in Torrisholme was also awarded Cake Bakery of the Year in Lancashire in the 2025/26 Manchester and North West Prestige Awards.
The Carter's team includes Alana, Theresa and Alana's husband Zak.
Carters is known for its cheesecakes, part of its range of luxury homemade bakes and cakes, with an additional deli counter.
