A new Tesco Express and car park is almost ready to open on a former pub bowling green in Lancaster.
Work is nearing completion at the new supermarket at 64 Bowerham Road.
Beyond Radio has been told, on site, that the shop is likely to open next week.
Tesco's website says it is due to open on Thursday.
We have contacted Tesco for comment.
In 2024, Lancaster City Council gave planning permission for the land behind the Bowerham Hotel in Lancaster to be used for new retail units and parking, despite objections from residents.
Below, a sign for the car park entrance behind the Bowerham Hotel.

The land was a walled bowling green, used by the pub's bowls teams until 2015 and most recently as a beer garden, and detached stabling outbuilding behind the Bowerham Road pub.

The planning application was for "Class E units with associated access, parking and loading bay, landscaping, infrastructure and demolition of existing outbuilding".
