Lancaster social media company makes finals of UK Small Business Awards

A Lancaster woman's digital marketing company has been named as a finalist in the UK Small Business Awards.

Lucy Kaulbarsch is the founder of Lucy Digital, and has been running the business since 2020.

The awards celebrate small businesses across the UK, and Lucy Digital has been shortlisted in the Best Digital Marketing Business 2025 category.

Lucy was born in Lancaster, went to St Luke's Slyne with Hest Primary and Our Lady’s Catholic College high school and then Lancaster University where she did a marketing degree.

She started her business when COVID hit, starting by posting free marketing tips on Instagram and making advertising graphics, at first just for fun and for friends.

"One of my first 'jobs' was designing Instagram posts for the girl who did my nails in exchange for money off my next appointment," said Lucy.

"Things grew from there, word spread, and before long, I had people asking me to manage their social media properly after sharing my expertise for free!"

Lucy is based in Morecambe and works remotely, and has clients in Carnforth, Hest Bank, Morecambe, Lancaster, Galgate and Preston.

The company offers social media management, content creation (photography and videography), graphic design, and websites.

"Over the last year, I’ve invested heavily in photography and video because it’s such a big part of how businesses connect with people today," said Lucy.

I work with clients across many industries, including beauty, hospitality, training, manufacturing and beyond.

"My clients include businesses that many people might recognise locally, such as Prom Fest, Bier & Twist, and XI Training. 

"What I think sets me apart is that I’m a complete business nerd; I genuinely love learning how other businesses work. I dive deep into every client I work with so that when I create content, it actually reflects who they are and how they operate, rather than just filling a feed with posts."

The awards ceremony will be held on December 13 in Birmingham.
