A Lancaster University graduate who co-founded a Hong Kong company wants to bring groundbreaking AI technology back to our local area to help save lives.
Jerry Ng is chief marketing officer at LifeSparrow Solutions which uses innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions to aid search and rescue operations.
Their flagship product, SparAI, uses drone technology and deep learning to detect individuals in distress.
It focuses on search-and-rescue operations, especially related to hiking - a popular pastime in Hong Kong - and helps find missing hikers by analyzing drone images of hiking trails and reduces the search time by two-thirds.
Jerry, who graduated from the university with a BSc in Entrepreneurship and Management in 2020, was named in the Forbes 30 Asia Under 30 list this year along with the firm's co-founders Josua Chan and Max Lee.
The honour reflected the company’s support of the Hong Kong Fire Services Department in a successful rescue of lost hikers in a country park.
Jerry has always wanted to bring this technology back to Lancashire and the Lake District to make sure of the safety of the hikers and people by the sea, and save lives.
The company is looking to reach out to Lancaster and Lancashire organisations and councils to explore cooperation opportunities.
