Headliners The Lancashire Hotpots absolutely loved their time on stage at the Lancaster Christmas Lights Switch On.
The event in Market Square, organised by Lancaster BID and supported by Lancaster University, featured entertainment from The Performance Studios, Lancaster Grand Theatre cast of Cinderella, Olivia-Mae Mulqueeney, Laura Sandham School of Dance, Dukes Theatre cast of Robin Hood, The Fourth Colour, The Howling Clowns, and Roses & Thorn and the Bobby Pin-Ups, before a headline set from The Lancashire Hotpots.

Speaking exclusively to Beyond Radio after they came off stage, the Hotpots said: ‘’What a momentous occasion. It’s been an absolute privilege to be here. Thanks for inviting us!
‘’We definitely hit peak ‘Lancashire’ today. Lancashire Hotpots, in Lancaster, on Lancashire Day.
‘’We’re still having fun after more than 15 years. The crowds still seem to be having fun, so we keep on doing it.’’
The Hotpots have been performing since 2006 and are well known for their quirky musical takes on everyday life, sung in a folk style.
‘’We all still work in the week, we’ve all got jobs, and then on Friday afternoon we meet back up, have a mad weekend, and then back to school on Monday,’’ they told Beyond Radio, on a special Sunday afternoon live broadcast from the event.
‘’We’ve got quite a rich musical history between us and have all done other projects, and that helps us (in finding ideas to write songs about). We draw on that and it helps us create the nonsense that we put on stage.’’
The event also featured the annual Santa Dash, raising funds for CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria, with participants sent off to the sounds of a performance by drumming band, Samba Espirito.
