A charity in Lancaster which has helped thousands of animals find loving homes over almost 50 years is in urgent need of financial help.
Animal Care has begun a fundraising campaign to help safeguard its future after announcing it was in a "very serious financial situation".
Formed in 1978, Animal Care takes in unwanted and abandoned animals from all over the North West and looks after them until they can find them new homes.
The animal shelter on Blea Tarn Road, which is entirely self-funded, looks after around 800 dogs, cats, rabbits and more each year.
Beyond Radio visited Animal Care on Tuesday to see first-hand the amazing work the team do.

Earlier this week, Animal Care posted this statement on its social media.
"We’re sorry to have to write this post, but due to on-going financial challenges, Animal Care is in a very serious financial situation. This means we urgently need to secure regular donations and sponsorship to protect the future of our charity.
"For nearly 50 years, Animal Care has been a dedicated part of our community. We are proud to have an incredible and loyal community around us, along with a fantastic team of committed staff. Together, we have helped thousands of animals find safety, care and loving homes. However, the past few years have been incredibly difficult, and now we need your help to survive.
"We rely entirely on donations, fundraising and the generosity of our supporters. Without regular giving, we simply cannot continue our work!
"If everyone who follows us on social media donated just £2 a month, we would not only survive — we would thrive again. A small amount each month truly adds up and gives us the stability we desperately need.

"Are you a local business that could support us in any way? Whether through sponsorship, fundraising, partnerships or regular giving, we would love to hear from you. If you are a will-writing company and would like to work with us to help promote legacy giving, please do get in touch. Your support could make a life-changing difference.
"Animal Care means everything to our staff. Many of our team members have been here for over 20 years. For them, this isn’t just a job — it’s their life’s work. The thought of not being able to continue helping animals in need is incredibly distressing for everyone involved.
"If you have ever adopted an animal, visited our tea rooms, supported our charity shops, attended one of our workshops, called us for advice, or simply love animals as much as we do — please consider donating £1, £2, £5, £10 or £20 a month. That small, regular gift could make the biggest difference we have ever seen. The price of a coffee once a month could save us!

"If you are a business that could help by supplying dog food, cat litter or other essential items, we would love to hear from you. Or could you help in a big way and help us to finish our boarding kennels and cattery to really help secure the financial future of the charity.
"If your business offers grant opportunities for animal charities, please get in touch.
"We desperately need regular monthly donations: If you would like to become a regular monthly donor, please follow the link below and click – Yes donate monthly – and chose the date you would like to start.
"Alternatively, please email admin@animalcare-lancaster.co.uk and we will email you back with a form to print out.

"Although the animals cannot say it themselves, thank you for reading this and thank you to anyone who gives us the help and support we need to keep this important charity alive. We will get through this difficult time, and we will be forever grateful."
