A man has been arrested on a Morecambe beach on suspicion of assault.
Police said a man, 55, was arrested on suspicion of common assault and possession of a Class B controlled drug. He has since been released under investigation.
Officers were called to Morecambe North Beach on Monday evening.
Photos shared by a member of the public on social media, show a man being arrested by police on the beach.
"We received a report of a concern for safety at 7.20pm yesterday after a man was seen in the sea," said a Lancashire Police spokesperson.
"Our officers attended and words of advice were given to stay out of the water.
"The man was then seen to became involved in a disturbance with a group of young people and was reported to have assaulted one of them."
