The popular free light-art trail, Light Up Lancaster, returns to the city centre in November.
Dates have been revealed for the 2026 event, which takes place on November 5, 6, and 7.
Light Up Lancaster invites audiences to explore a magical light-art trail throughout the city, discovering enchanting light-artworks and captivating installations in Lancaster’s streets and squares.
This year’s theme is ‘No Boundaries.’
A spokesperson for Light Up Lancaster said: ‘’Get ready to see Lancaster in a whole new light as Light Up Lancaster returns for three brilliant nights of creative light art, family fun and exploration.
‘’This year we're discovering new connections, crossing borders and celebrating all the things that bring us together.
‘’Expect incredible installations and interactive artworks lighting up the city's historic buildings; hands-on activities and plenty of chances to get involved; and an amazing atmosphere as the city becomes a shared canvas for creativity, discovery and wonder.
‘’So, pop the dates in your diary and prepare to join us for a magical festival as Lancaster lights up the night!’’

In recent years, Light Up Lancaster has become a fixture in the local events calendar, following on from an initial pilot event in 2012.
Beginning life as an after-dark light art trail to build up excitement the night before the firework display near Lancaster Castle, the event has developed into a three-day festival of art and light.
Last year, crowds packed into city streets, squares and famous buildings for three days of Light Up Lancaster.
Thousands of visitors explored installations, projections, and performances at the event, with organisers reporting the busiest evening on record in some central areas of town, whilst Lancaster Castle reported record figures – 35 per cent higher than in 2024.
