Morecambe Football Club has been sanctioned by the National League for the second time this season for failure to comply with financial regulations.
The Shrimps – who are currently 8th in the National League North table – issued a brief statement on Tuesday afternoon confirming an embargo meant that the club were now prevented from signing a new player or changing the terms of an existing loan deal, until it was lifted.
A spokesperson for the club said: ‘’Morecambe Football Club acknowledges the National League’s decision to place it under another player registration embargo and is working hard to have this resolved and removed as soon as possible.
''Morecambe Football Club will be making no further comment.''
It follows the previous embargo placed on the club in August over pension contributions, which was lifted on September 2nd, and relates to a matter with ‘football creditors.’
The previous embargo was put in place on August 11 after Morecambe Football Club Ltd was reported to the Pensions Regulator over non-payment of employee contributions.
This current embargo was put in place on October 26, and is now listed on the National League’s website.
