The team behind a popular Lancaster cafe have opened a new sandwich shop in the city centre.
Spread Sandwich Shop opened this week on Brock Street, brought to you by the team at the nearby 18a Lancaster coffee shop.
18a, which has been running on Brock Street for seven years and was formerly known as Brew, won Coffee Shop of the Year and chef Mark Potter won Employee of the Year at the Love Lancaster Business Awards in 2025.
Owner Luiza Woods has now expanded to open the new takeaway sandwich shop.
"I've always been looking at ways to expand 18a, and myself and Mark saw a gap in the market for a really good independent sandwich shop," said Luiza.
Spread will sell artisan subs, toasties, home-made cookies and quality crisps, and will be open from Mondays to Fridays.
*Other new businesses opening in the city include Jennings estate agents, which has opened in the former Studio Arts premises on North Road, and Kore Reformer Pilates on Cable Street.

"Lancaster BID is pleased to welcome new businesses to the city centre," said a spokesperson for Lancaster BID (Business Improvement District).
"It is fantastic seeing businesses across different sectors with enough confidence to invest in our wonderful city."
