An event in Lancaster tomorrow will help to launch an anthology of short stories which celebrate Lancashire.
12,000 copies of a new book 'Lancashire Stories' will be distributed for free across the county.
Printed with help from UCLan Publishing, the book will be given away at libraries, museums and Lancashire Archives.
An exclusive eBook version will also be available on BorrowBox, with five additional stories.
Lancashire County Council commissioned 17 talented, professional authors to write 'Lancashire Stories', which delves into the area's people, places, heritage and mythology.
The book will be launched with a series of free events, including one tomorrow at Lancaster Castle.
At each event, there will be at least three of the participating authors present to talk about the project and read from their story.
These will be held, all at 7pm:
Preston Launch (Lancashire Archives) on Tuesday, November 29
Lancaster Launch (Lancaster Castle) on Wednesday, November 30
Blackburn Launch (Blackburn Library) on Thursday, December 1
Blackpool Launch (Blackpool Library) on Tuesday, December 6
Burnley Launch (Burnley Library) on Wednesday, December 7
Councillor Peter Buckley, cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: "This collection of stories is a wonderful way to celebrate Lancashire.
"They have been created by an exceptional group of talented authors and there is something for everyone.
"There are stories that bring to life past generations and stories set in the future which relate to the places we recognise today. What a great way to spend an afternoon, immersed in a free book."
Tickets for these events are available from Eventbrite
