The organiser of the Morecambe Poppy Appeal says demand has been so high they are already on course to shatter last year's fundraising total.
Steve Trainor said that around £10,000 had been raised in just five days since the appeal was launched in Morecambe and Heysham.
Stocks of poppies have also been running low, such is the demand from local people to wear their poppy with pride.
"Yesterday I had to go to our area officer to get more stock," said Steve.
"Everybody is running out. That's how generous people are.
"From the figures I've received, on Monday night, Morecambe and Heysham had raised about £10,000 already. It's unbelievable. I can't stress enough how much we appreciate how much the public are doing for us."

The Poppy Appeal is organised by the Royal British Legion.
The charity supports the Armed Forces community throughout their lives, providing a lifeline for serving personnel, veterans and their families.
Last year around £40,000 was raised from poppy sales in Lancaster and £39,000 in Morecambe.
Steve organises the Morecambe and Heysham appeal, while Andrew Taylor runs the appeal in Lancaster, and Jane Ward runs it in Carnforth.
He stressed that you don't have to be a member of the Armed Forces or a veteran to join the Royal British Legion.
Steve was inspired to join the Legion after visiting the war graves at Ypres in Belgium.
He then set up the Morecambe Poppyscatter initiative in 2013 where people bought poppy seeds and planted them to commemorate the centenary of World War One.

The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal launched on October 27 and will run until Remembrance Sunday on November 13.
Collectors and volunteers will be out and about distributing poppies and collecting donations in local communities, shops, supermarkets and train stations.
