Man arrested for possessing alcohol in breach of police order in Morecambe

A man was arrested for possessing alcohol in breach of an anti-social behaviour order in Morecambe.

The 57-year-old was taken into custody on Thursday morning for breaching his Community Protection Notice by being in possession of alcohol when he is prohibited from doing so.

Such orders are issued when a person causes trouble, annoyance or suffering to a community.

PC Katie Foster from Morecambe Area Police said: ‘’People around the area have highlighted this as an issue of concern on our priority survey.

‘’I am aware there are issues in and around Morecambe Town Centre and would urge anyone with concerns to report them on 101 or our online reporting system.

‘’We will not tolerate nuisance, anti social behaviour and alcohol related ASB within the town centre and I would encourage anyone to report incidents such as these.

‘’If incidents are not reported, we do not know they have happened and cannot get a true reflection of issues within our area.’’

Operation Centurion is Lancashire Constabulary’s county-wide response to anti-social behaviour, supported by Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw. As part of this targeted operation, each district of Lancashire is currently benefitting from additional foot patrols to target areas identified as ASB hotspots.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, report it using the online reporting tools at www.lancashire.police.uk , or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
