The owners of a Lancaster cocktail bar are to take over a popular city centre pub.
Mono Loco opened in the former St John’s Hospice charity shop at 52 Market Street last November, marketing itself as a “design-led cocktail bar where jungle luxe meets wild nightlife”.
They’re now taking over The Study Room on Church Street, with refurbishment work already underway.
In a post on social media, they said: “We’re bringing our signature Mono Loco attitude into a brand new chapter – live music, standout cocktails, proper beers, great wine, and a food menu built for sharing, grazing and staying out longer than planned.
"This isn’t a soft refresh. It’s a full re-imagination.”
‘’Expect cocktails with personality, a food menu that actually excites, live music & DJs, quality beers, ales & wines, and a venue that feels alive again.
"Big ideas are in motion, and we can’t wait to open the doors and show you what we’ve been building.’’
Meanwhile, Mono Loco is also currently closed for a refurbishment, with the bar due to reopen on January 16.
The original Study Room opened in April2014, after a major joint investment of £450,000 between Punch Taverns and Mick Horan, Managing Director of Strawberry Enterprise Ltd, in the building previously occupied by the former Nag’s Head pub, which closed in 2012.
More recently, in 2024, the venue was taken over by Karen Costello and Chris Balance, who run The Greyhound at Halton.
