A popular Lancaster café will close at the end of the week after the owners announced their retirement.
The Red Door is set to close its doors after five successful years serving breakfasts, cakes and coffees to the public.
The café in Halton opened in 2021 during the Coronavirus pandemic, replacng the former White Lion pub and quickly becoming a local favourite.
Owners Eric Filbin and Elaine Shortland, said: ‘’The time has come for us to hang up our aprons for one final time.
‘’We have decided that it’s time to spend more time with each other, with friends and with family. After a lifetime of working it’s now the right time for us to retire.
‘’As this last chapter at The Red Door Café draws to a close it’s only right that we thank everyone that made the last five years possible.
‘’To those that helped and supported us through our opening during Covid, to the customers that have continued to support us, many of whom have become friends, to all of our staff past and present, to our suppliers who have consistently provided us quality products and finally to our friends and families that have been with us through all of the highs and lows, we couldn’t have done it without you!
‘’Our final days trading will be Sunday, October 18. We very much look forward to welcoming you back one final time. We will be open throughout as per our normal business hours.
‘’Thanks again!’’
