A man was sprayed in the face with a liquid believed to be barbecue lighter fluid during a robbery at a Post Office in Lancaster.
The incident happened at the branch on Ullswater Road, with police receiving a report just before 8pm on Sunday.
It was reported that two men, described as wearing all black clothing and balaclavas, had entered the shop, spraying a man in the face with a liquid, before stealing a significant amount of cash from the safe.
The man, aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged. His injuries weren’t thought to be life changing or threatening.
A spokesperson for Lancaster Area Police said: ‘’An investigation is ongoing, and you will see our officers in the area as they carry out CCTV enquiries and speak to those in the vicinity.
‘’We want to ask for your help here too though – if you have CCTV or dashcam footage that covers the area, or if you witnessed the incident itself, or have noticed anything suspicious recently, we would be really interested in speaking with you as soon as we can.
‘’We know this will be concerning to hear about, but we want to reassure you that work is ongoing to identify those involved, and we have increased reassurance patrols in the area as a precaution. As this time we don’t believe there to be any threat to the wider public.
‘’If you can help our enquiries in any way please call 101 quoting log 1220 of October 4.’’
