A Lancaster park cafe damaged by storms will be demolished in the new year as talks continue on a replacement.
The Williamson Park cafe was forced to close after suffering structural damage in gale force winds in January.
Lancaster City Council, who own the park, have been looking at options for the future of the building.
In a report this month, Councillor Caroline Jackson, Lancaster City Council leader, said: "In Williamson Park the new manager is bringing forward plans to provide a replacement covered outdoor seating area and following the demolition of the cafe building, the tea and coffee cabins are to be re-sited next to the Butterfly House."
Councillor Jason Wood, leader of the Labour group, said during a city council meeting at Morecambe Town Hall on Wednesday: "Williamson Park is a great community asset and I hope that whatever comes forward will add to that amenity and not detract from it.
"We’re all looking forward to seeing those plans. We’d like more information and a bit of a timeline, please."
Councillor Jackson said: "I agree with you. There is a meeting very shortly to review a couple of suggestions that have come forward of what might be built there.
"Demolition is happening early in the new year and therefore we are going to have the circumstances where we can go forward with the plan for a new café.
"It is imminent, that we get an opportunity to look at those plans again."
When asked if the cabins were a temporary measure or permanent replacement for the cafe, she said: "Temporary.
"The new manager is trying to make sure that we get a replacement that will deal with the winter, something more durable.
"No the cabins are not the replacement, they are an interim measure so we can have a cup of tea or coffee if we go to the park."
Councillor Jackson said she would provide a written response to councillors on the plans.
