Support on offer for those experiencing financial hardship in Lancaster district

Lancaster City Council has launched the third round of its Household Support Fund to help residents who are experiencing financial hardship.

The council has been allocated funding via the Department for Work and Pensions to offer financial assistance to residents struggling due to the rising cost of living.

The Household Support Fund aims to help with short-term living costs and pay for essential items such as utility bills, housing costs and household appliances.

To be eligible to apply for help from the scheme, applicants must be aged 16 years and over, live in the Lancaster district, and be able to demonstrate that they are struggling to afford necessities or pay their bills.

Councillor Caroline Jackson, Leader of Lancaster City Council, said: “We are all affected by inflation and rising living costs but for some people this is a real emergency.

“The Household Support Fund provides a lifeline to help with household bills or buy food and I would urge anyone who is eligible to apply so they can get the help they need to get back on their feet.”

More details of the scheme and how to apply can be found on the council’s website at www.lancaster.gov.uk/hsf

Alternatively, you can call the council on 01524 582000 (press option 7) between 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
