Tributes have been paid to a much-loved mum, grandma and great grandma who died after she was hit by a car in Morecambe.
Gill Gale, 84, died on Monday evening after she was struck by a car as she was returning home from a country dancing class.
In a statement, Mrs Gale's family said: "Gill Gale was a much-loved mum, grandma and great grandma, and friend to many.
“Gill engaged in and enjoyed the outdoors, including nature and active voluntary roles.
"She led walks with the Ramblers Association, H.F. and groups from U3A, The National Trust Luke group, she was a Sizergh Castle Guide and was a member of Torrisholme Methodist Church, plus she participated in many other groups.
“Gill was known for her zest for life.
“She had been the Practice Manager at West End Medical Surgery and a local Brownie and Guide Leader.
“Gill was returning from her country dancing class when the fatal collision happened.
“The news of Gill's tragic death has been devasting news and she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.”
A spokesperson for Lancaster Ramblers said: "This tragic incident has deprived us of a very enthusiastic walker, walk leader, trek and holiday organiser.
"She probably knew her way round more footpaths than the rest of the group put together.
"She was also a leading light in several other walking organisations as well as her church, Lancaster and Morecambe U3A, the local National Trust Group (LUKE), Lancaster Archaeological and Historical Society (LAHS) and an ex Guide Leader and District Commissioner to mention just a few.
"She will be sadly missed. RIP Gill."
