Morecambe enjoyed a comfortable victory in their latest pre-season friendly.
With the new League Two season less than two weeks away, the Shrimps enjoyed a productive run out against non-league Burscough, who play in the North West Counties League, the ninth tier of English football.
All of the Shrimps squad featured in the fixture, with the exception of defender Max Melbourne and midfielder Jake Taylor, who is yet to make an appearance in pre-season so far.
Adam Mayor, JJ McKiernan and striker Michael Mellon moved Derek Adams’ men into a three goal lead inside the first half hour, before the hosts pulled one back.
McKiernan and Mellon both got onto the scoresheet again, along with defender Farrend Rawson just before half time.
Mayor added his second just after the break, before a brace from Shrewsbury loanee Tom Bloxham.
The game was wrapped up with Mellon completing his hat trick in the final minute.
Morecambe now end their pre-season programme with two much sterner tests - home fixtures against League One opposition at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium – Blackpool on Tuesday July 25, and Wigan Athletic on Saturday July 29, ahead of the first League Two fixture of the season against Walsall on August 5.
