Morecambe darts ace Dave Chisnall reached the last 16 of the televised UK Open before coming up against teenage superstar Luke Littler.

The 17-year-old beat Chizzy 10-5 on Saturday night at Butlin's in Minehead to end Dave's hopes of a first televised major title.

Littler averaged 103.38 to Chisnall's 101.63 in a high quality matchup despite the Morecambe man moving ahead early in the contest.

"Not to be...Luke played great, proper talent," tweeted Chisnall after the match, which was shown live on ITV4.

"Thanks for all the support, fingers crossed for better next time."

Earlier, Chizzy reeled off six consecutive legs to win 10-6 against Mensur Suljovic, who had upset three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen in the previous round.

In the last 64, Chisnall had beaten the Welshman Nick Kenny 10-4.

Littler couldn't follow up on his victory over Chizzy as he lost 10-8 to Damon Heta from Australia in Sunday's quarter-final.
