Dave Chisnall gives all-conquering Luke Littler a fright at Belgian Darts Open

Dave Chisnall gives Luke Littler a pat on the back after defeat to the young world champion in Belgium

Dave Chisnall gave eventual champion Luke Littler a tough scrap during the Morecambe man's quarter-final exit at the Belgian Darts Open.

Chizzy had his nose in front most of the way in the best of 11 clash against the 18-year-old world champion on Sunday.

Dave led 3-1 and 4-2 and was just two legs from victory, only for the teenage sensation to roar back with four legs on the spin to win 6-4.

Afterwards the Morecambe man tweeted: "The lad can chuck. Congrats to Luke - a worthy winner this week in Belgium."

Earlier in the weekend at Wieze, Chizzy had survived a match dart to edge Ritchie Edhouse 6-5 in the last 16.

The 2022 champion had also beaten Ricardo Pietreczko of Germany 6-3 earlier in the tournament.

Littler went on to defeat James Wade 7-3 in the semi-final, then completed his latest tournament victory with an 8-5 win over Mike de Decker in the final.

Luke 'The Nuke's win followed his triumph last weekend in the televised UK Open at Minehead, and becoming the youngest ever world champion at Alexandra Palace in London in January.
