Dave Chisnall was beaten by in-form Chris Dobey in the quarter-finals of the European Darts Championship.
Morecambe-based Chisnall lost 10-7 in a high quality quarter-final on Sunday afternoon in Dortmund, Germany.
Chizzy, who is still seeking his first ever win of a PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) major tournament, faced an opponent at the top of his game.
The Bedlington ace had earlier accounted for former world champion Michael van Gerwen and world number six Jose Da Sousa, and rattled in 12 180s against Chisnall - the most maximums ever in the tournament.
Dave rallied after a blistering Dobey start to lead 4-3 against the darts but missed chances to extend his advantage.
When Dobey went 7-5 ahead it looked curtains for the Morecambe man but he produced his own maximums and composed finishes to stay in touch at 9-7 until 'Hollywood' closed out the match with double 16.
Chisnall had defeated Steve Bunting and Jonny Clayton earlier in the tournament, which is being shown on ITV3 and ITV4 in the UK.
Dobey lost to Ross Smith in the semi-final, who went on to upset Michael Smith in the final.
