John McGuinness MBE

John McGuinness rolled back the years to achieve a third placed finish in the NW200 ahead of his return to his favourite Isle of Man stomping ground.

'The Morecambe Missile' was delighted to once again stand on the podium at the age of 52 after a fabulous performance in the CP Hire Superstock class at Ireland's biggest outdoor sporting event.

McGuinness received a booming ovation as he crossed the line for Honda Racing to win the bronze medal on Saturday.

It was his first podium finish at the event since 2012 and 30 years since his debut in the NW200.

The Morecambe man was fourth for most of the race but then his team-mate Dean Harrison retired, and after holding off James Hillier, 'McPint' was able to earn the third place behind Davey Todd and Peter Hickman.

The North West 200 takes place on a street circuit known as the Triangle between the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush in Northern Ireland. The race weekend attracts 150,000 visitors from all over the world.

This year's TT races take place from June 1-8. McGuinness is a 23-time winner around the Isle of Man TT track,
