Morecambe’s Dave Chisnall suffered a second round defeat at the German Darts Open over the weekend.
Chisnall, who was looking for his third title of the year, was installed as the number one seed for the event in Jena, but lost out to eventual tournament winner, Krzysztof Ratajski, in round three.
After a seeded bye in round one, Chisnall started well, looking in good touch as he averaged nearly 103 in a 6-1 thumping of Luke Woodhouse in round two, in a best of 11 legs contest.
He only hit two maximums, but pinned 50% of his doubles in a clinical effort from 'Chizzy'.
But it wasn’t to be for Chisnall, as Ratajski beat him 6-2 win in the second round for 'The Polish Eagle' to soar through with an 89 average and 6/18 on the doubles, compared to a poor 20% from his opponent who faltered on the checkouts.
Chisnall has already won two European Tour titles this season, and was also narrowly denied his third European darts title of the year when Peter Wright beat him in the Czech Open Final.
Also competing in Germany at the weekend was fellow Morecambe darter, Callum Goffin.
The qualifier was beaten 6-2 by Kevin Doets in round one.
