Morecambe won away for the first time since Boxing Day 2024 with a dominant 4-0 display against Boston United in the National League.

The Shrimps made just one change for the game at The Jakemans Community Stadium, with Ben Williams returning to the side at left back, coming into the team for midfielder George Thomas.

The hosts started brightly, but it was the Shrimps who struck first in the 15th minute.

Maldini Kacurri drove through the centre of the pitch, and the ball fell to Jake Cain whose left footed drive from 25 yards found the corner of Ryan Lovett’s net, to score his first goal in Shrimps’ colours.

Jamal Blackman was called into action in the 32nd minute when a corner was floated into the Shrimps area and the 'keeper got down well to make the stop to his right.

It was a second for Morecambe in the 39th minute. After some excellent build-up play, the ball landed at the feet of Jake Cain who's effort wad parried into the path of Gwion Edwards who slotted the rebound home from a tight angle.

Boston United came out after half time with purpose, but the visiting defence held firm, and Morecambe extended their lead within ten minutes of the restart.

Jack Nolan’s excellent right sided corner was nodded in at the back post by Joe Nuttall, his first goal for the club.

Minutes later, it was four, as a break down the Boston right led to a cross which was deemed to be handled inside the area by the referee, and up stepped Nuttall to double his tally for the night, stroking the ball home straight down the middle to seal the points.

The Shrimps from then on stood firm at the back, and saw the rest of the game out comfortably, to record their first clean sheet of the season.

Morecambe travel to Eastleigh on Saturday.
