Two Morecambe FC midfielders have received international call ups.
JJ KcKiernan and Eli King have been named in the Northern Ireland U21 and Wales U21 squads respectively.
King, who has eight previous under 21 caps, will be part of the squad for a friendly against Liechtenstein next week, and then a U21 EURO qualifier against Lithuania on September 12. He played the full game in his country’s previous qualifier against Denmark in June
McKiernan has two previous under 21 caps, and is in the Northern Ireland party for their qualifiers against Luxembourg next Thursday (September 7), and Ukraine the following Tuesday (September 12).
KcKiernan and King, who have both been ever present so far for the Shrimps this season, will both now be absent from the Morecambe squad for the League Two trip to Barrow AFC next weekend as a result of the call ups.
Clubs can request a postponement of their fixtures should their squad receive three or more selections for internationals at either full or under 21 level.
