Goals fly in for Morecambe FC Women in league and cup

Morecambe FC Women were among the goals as a five-star performance followed progress in the FA Cup.

The Shrimps Women first-team beat Fleetwood Town Wrens Reserves 5-1 in the league on Sunday at the Trimpell Club, with goals from Gray (2), Johnson, Howarth and Carswell.

The Morecambe reserves also triumphed beating Blackpool Town 1-0 with a goal from Scott, after beginning their league campaign with a crushing 9-0 victory.

The first team had won their Adobe FA Cup first round qualifying tie convincingly against AFC Crewe on September 7, easing to a 7-1 victory with goals from Carswell (4), Gray and Dingle (2).

Morecambe Women have been drawn away from home against West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC in the second round of qualifying. The tie will be played on Sunday 21 September with a 2pm kick off.

Meanwhile, Morecambe business TP Financial Solutions are sponsoring the Morecambe FC Women shirt for the 2025/26 season. Here are Annabel Lumsden and Tarnia Elsworth from the company with Tom Smith, first team manager, and captain Yvonne Carswell.
